PRIVATE YOGA SESSIONS

Private Yoga Practice/Therapeutics

A lot of healing takes place within us when we cooperate with our innate healing powers. However, it is not easy and definitely requires determination, perseverance and regularity. That is what yoga is all about – a totally healthy way of living. Although yoga emphasizes on the importance of prevention, it works wonders at the curative level as well.

Private Yoga

Originally, yoga was taught by one teacher directly to one student. The great ancient teachers understood the importance of individualizing each yoga experience to meet the needs of the student. Today, a private session allows for a more intimate view into your practice. You can start a new practice, deepen your practice or spend some time working with an injury or condition. When you work with a teacher one on one, the teacher is able to help you experience the benefits of yoga in a safe, personal way.

Private yoga is an invaluable tool for students of all levels and experience. Private lessons provide the perfect setting to address your goals and work on areas of individual interest. Sweta works with you to create a practice suitable for where you are now. Props such as blankets, bolsters, straps, blocks, chair and sandbags are employed to make postures more comfortable and safer. “The body is the prop for the soul. So why not let the body be propped by a wall or a block?” – B.K.S Iyengar

Therapeutic Yoga

Do you suffer from chronic or acute back pain, poor posture, disc problems, scoliosis, or neck pain? If you’re like most Americans, you have experienced frustrating pain in your back and neck due to stress, injuries, muscle-weakness, or strain caused by the repetitive stress of your daily work or home life. Perhaps you carry most of you tension in your jaw, shoulders, and upper back, or, maybe you spend most of your day in front of a computer and find your lower back and neck achy and exhausted after work. If you’re tired of feeling chronically achy, or if you unconsciously reach for the bottle of ibuprofen at the end of the day, why not try yoga therapy to improve your well-being?
Therapeutic yoga tends to be gentle and nurturing, though it also can be challenging. It places a heavy focus on bodily awareness, postural alignment, with movement ties to relaxed, rhythmic breathing. Students are taught to tune in to subtle sensations of their muscles and joints, as well as the inner experience of the mind.

With a dedicated practice over the course of 3-6 months, students can expect –

  1. Improving Posture
  2. Increasing Strength
  3. Gaining Flexibility and Joint Freedom
  4. Digestive Health
  5. Managing Stress
  6. Relief from Pain
  7. Enhancing Body Awareness

What others say about Sweta:

“The in-home sessions make it less stressful for those of us who do not start out with a high degree of flexibility and who are not familiar with yoga. I would not have been as comfortable pursuing this in a large class setting. And while my wife had practiced yoga in the past, she also feels that having Sweta as a personal instructor has helped her better understand the poses and the spiritual aspects behind them.”

“What I liked about her philosophy is that she believes in the “real” thing. . .not “hot,” or “Pilates yoga,” or “power yoga,” but the type of yoga that real Indian people practice in their home country.”

“As an avid cycler, heavy-weight lifter and sculpt instructor myself, on top of a full-time job, I need an instructor like Sweta helping me maintain balance in all aspects of my life. For any one that is fortunate enough to have access to her teaching, I highly suggest taking advantage of learning from her — you cannot afford to miss out!”

“I had the pleasure of working with Sweta in a variety of settings; as a private yoga instructor, personal trainer, and in yoga classes in a group setting. Sweta has truly mastered her craft and her hands-on assists gently guide students to deepen their poses. Her story telling during class allows her to connect to her students in a meaningful way and not only does she have a wealth of knowledge on the subject, but she is a warm, compassionate teacher that is truly invested in the growth of her students.”
